Good relationships

All relationships are different, and people often want different things from relationships.

A healthy relationship checklist 

In your relationship do you feel: 

  • Supported, safe and happy? 

  • Trusted? Or does your partner constantly want to check up on you or ask where you've been? 

  • Loved and respected? Do you respect each other's boundaries, or are you always having to do what the other person wants? 

  • That you can have fun? All relationships have their ups and downs – are you ever scared that your partner gets angry or frightens you? 

  • If you talk about things that worry you, does your partner listen? Are you both able to have a point of view – not one person making all the decisions? 

If you're not happy in a relationship - with a partner, friend or a family member – it's best to talk to someone. It's OK to ask for help if things don't feel right.
